Were Mozart and Salieri deadly enemies as portrayed in Amadeus, or did the film portray a feud that never was?  This captivating concert brings Mozart and Salieri to life and showcases their music, including an aria competition to pick Vienna's best composer!

 

  • Mozart's jubilant Coronation Mass, majestic Symphony No. 39 and bravura arias from Magic Flute and Abduction from the Seraglio.

  • Salieri's beautiful Gloria, thrilling Falstaff Overture and fabulous arias from La Cifra and Falstaff.

Janet Todd - Soprano

 

Melbourne Soprano Janet Todd, now based in Los Angeles, recently completed her Master of Music at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. where she performed many roles including Konstanze in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail.  Last September, Janet performed Cio-Cio San in Madama Butterfly with Opera Columbus.

Sally Anne Russell - Mezzo Soprano

 

One of Australia’s finest mezzo sopranos, Sally-Anne has over 70 operatic roles in her repertoire, has sung in fifteen countries, performs with all the major symphony orchestras and opera companies and she has over 40 recordings on ABC Classics, Chandos, Move and Decca labels.

Nick Seidenman - Tenor

 

Tenor Nick Seidenman is a versatile artist who performs both in opera (Amato Opera NY, Palm Beach, Melbourne Opera) and in concerts and recitals (Mannes Orchestra, NY; Richmond Choral Society, Virginia).

Mario Dobernig - Conductor

 

Mario is the Artistic Director and Conductor for Victoria Chorale and the Art of Sound Orchestra.

 

Engagements for the 2017/2018 season include performances with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in Doha for the Qatar Festival, Hobart’s MONA FOMA, Brahms’s Requiem and Alto Rhapsody, Schubert’s Masses No. 5 and 6, Mozart Vespers K. 339, Mozart’ Piano Concerto K. 449, Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 and Eroica, Saint-Saens Christmas Oratorio, Haydn’s Nelson Mass, festival appearances with Electronic Dance Music Producers,  cultural exchange programs between Austria and Australia and returns to Europe in 2017 and 2018.

Peter Tregear - Bass Baritone

 

Melbourne-born, baritone Peter Tregear is a graduate of the Universities of Melbourne and Cambridge, and later a Fellow of Fitzwilliam College. He has worked as a singer and choral and operatic conductor across Europe and Australia.  Recent performances include appearances as a soloist at the Wigmore Hall (London) and Kasteel De Haar (Netherlands). 

Cameron Wenn - Director

 

Australian Cameron Wenn’s career as a director has taken him all over the world. He has worked on musicals, operas and operettas, plays and cabaret from London’s West End to New York. As Associate Director of the Australian global hit Walking With Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular he mounted the production in over 30 countries.
