Over 100 voices of Victoria Chorale and the Melbourne Chamber Choir will sing Brahms Requiem with the Art of Sound Orchestra and conductor Mario Dobernig.  This magnificent work will be performed in the wonderful setting of St Paul's Cathedral with the superb soloists Jacqueline Porter (soprano) and James Clayton (baritone).

Brahms Requiem is a hymn to life filled with exquisitely beautiful melodies.  Regarded as Brahms’ supreme masterpiece, this is sublime and uplifting music.

Jacqueline Porter - Soprano

Equally at home on the operatic and concert stage, Jacqueline appears regularly with Australia’s major symphony orchestras and choral societies.   She has worked with celebrated conductors including Sir Neville Marriner and Vladimir Ashkenazy and her concerts are frequently broadcast on ABC Classic FM.

Concert highlights include Mozart’s Requiem and Rachmaninoff’s The Bells with MSO.   Her opera roles include Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro) for Victorian Opera and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) for State Opera South Australia.   Jacqueline was the recipient of the 2010 Dame Nellie Melba Opera Trust Scholarship.

James Clayton - Bass Baritone

In 2016, James Clayton sang Tonio (Pagliacci) for Victorian Opera, Scully (The Riders) for West Australian Opera and The Speaker (The Magic Flute) for New Zealand Opera – he also appeared as soloist with the Melbourne and New Zealand Symphony Orchestras.

Most recently, he has sung Escamillo in Carmen for Opera Australia and several roles for West Australian Opera – the title roles in Rigoletto, Le nozze di Figaro and Il barbiere di Siviglia, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Iago in Otello and Conte di Luna in Il trovatore.
