Victoria Chorale will perform Mozart's Solemn Vespers, Eine Leine Nachtmusik and Perkins Christchurch Vespers with the Art of Sound Orchestra and conductor Mario Dobernig. These marvelous works will be performed at the Collins Street Baptis Church with the wonderful soloists Jennifer Barrington (soprano), Anna Plotka (mezzo-soprano), Michael Lapina (tenor) and Jerzy Kozlowski (bass).
Jennifer Barrington - Soprano
Jennifer made her professional stage debut as Papagena in Die Zauberflöte with West Australian Opera. She has gone on to perform numerous roles both onstage and on the concert platform.
She most recently debuted internationally in New Zealand as soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana with Auckland Choral. Jennifer’s engagements for 2017 include her Italian debut as soloist in Faure's Requiem at Teatro Massimo di Bellini in Catania, as well as her return to New Zealand as soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
Anna Plotka - Mezzo-soprano
Aanna graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in 2015 from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and is currently pursuing a Master of Music (Performance) degree in classical voice. Anna also holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in French from the University of Melbourne.
Anna has been a core member of the chorus for Victorian Opera since 2013 in many productions, as well as choral concerts for others including Gloriana Chamber Choir, e21 Vocal Ensemble, The Consort of Melbourne, and as an alto scholar at St Peter's Eastern Hill.
Michael Lapiña - Tenor
Michael began his professional career in 1988 performing in musicals and touring extensively in Australia and Asia. Since 2008, Michael has been engaged with many of Australia’s leading opera houses to perform some of the most coveted tenor roles in the operatic repertoire, as well as being a regular soloist on the concert, corporate, chamber and oratorio stages.
Jerzy Kozlowski - Bass
Jerzy worked regularly with the Victoria State Opera, and has performed with Opera Australia in every Melbourne season since 1996. He has performed in many premieres of works by Australian composers such as Richard Mills, Johanna Selleck, and Helen Gifford, including two song cycles written especially for him by Michael Bertram and Lawrence Whiffin.
Recent engagements include the role of the King in Ernst Toch’s The Princess and the Pea with Victorian Opera and the title role in Handel’s Saul at a festival in Sutton Grange.
