Adelaide born Sally-Anne Russell is a multi-award-winning mezzo soprano and graduate of The University of Adelaide and has performed on the concert platform and operatic stage in twenty five countries.
She has over 80 operatic roles in repertoire working with all the major Opera Companies and Orchestras in Australia. International highlights include singing at The Spoleto Festival dei due Mondi in Italy, Washington Opera (DC), Oper der Stadt Köln, recitals and symphonic concerts in Vienna, Singapore, London, Scotland, Amsterdam, New Zealand and a ten year association as alto soloist at the Carmel Bach Festival in California.
Projects include Hermia (A Midsummer Nights Dream for Adelaide Festival), Wagners Ring Cycle (Melbourne Opera), Strauss’s Elektra (Victorian Opera), Dido and Aeneas (Sydney and Melbourne) and concerts of Mahler Das Lied von der Erde (Canberra International Festival), Handel’s Messiah (MSO) and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (Auckland Philharmonia and Adelaide Symphony Orchestra).

Her awards include a listeners choice ARIA for Pergolesi Stabat Mater with Sara Macliver, and nominations for Young Australian of the Year, Young Achiever of the Year, Green Room and Helpmann Awards.
She appears on over 40 CDs/DVDs including ABC Classics, CHANDOS, MOVE, Toccata UK, NAXOS and DECCA labels, including her solo aria disc “Enchanting” with The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Besides being co-artistic director for Albury Chamber Music Festival she is a member of the Kathaumixw Festival International Artistic Council in Canada and chair of the Australian chapter for the Belvedere International Competition in Vienna.
Upcoming projects include Durufle Requiem with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Bach's Cantatas, St Matthew Passion, Mozart Requiem, Handel’s Messiah and concerts in France, Italy and Austria.
