Victoria Chorale makes a joyous return to singing by performing Gabriel Fauré’s sublime Requiem, his exquisite Cantique de Jean Racine and much loved Pavane.

Dynamic Mario Dobernig conducts the choir, the Art of Sound Chamber Ensemble, boy soprano George Stirling and acclaimed baritone Raphael Wong.

Raphael Wong - Baritone
Raphael has performed on stage and in concert across Australia, the USA, China, and Germany.
A versatile classical-crossover artist, Raphael is a two-time finalist in the prestigious Herald Sun Aria Competition, a runner-up in the National Liederfest, and a Green Room Award nominee. Most recently, Raphael was a top 6 finalist in the inaugural Music Theatre Artists of Colour Initiative in 2020.
Raphael took part in the Bayreuth Young Artist Festival in Germany in 2018. He was also invited to be a featured performer and speaker at the International Rotary conference in Hamburg in 2019.

2021 engagements include: Il Re in Sleeping Beauty; Featured Artist in Music of the Night – The Songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber; Rapunzel’s Prince in Into the Woods.
Mario Dobernig - Conductor
Mario is the Artistic Director and Conductor for Victoria Chorale and the Art of Sound Orchestra. His dynamic conducting has delighted audiences and attracted many singers to the choir. Recent performances include Mozart vs Salieri at the Melbourne Recital Centre, Requiems by Gounod and Duruflé, Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, Brahms’s Requiem and Alto Rhapsody; Beethoven’s Mass in C, Symphony No. 1, Eroica and Pastoral Symphony.
Australian performances with other musical groups include conducting at Hobart’s MONA FOMA and festival appearances with Electronic Dance Music Producers. Mario’s international work includes conducting annually in Europe and leading the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in Doha.
George Stirling - Boy Soprano
George Stirling is 12 years old. He made his professional debut in the children’s ensemble of Turandot for Opera Australia in 2019. In 2020, George featured on the ABC’s 7.30 Report singing Meet me in the Middle of the Air (Paul Kelly) in St Patrick’s Cathedral.
George is a chorister in the Performing Squad of the Australian Boys Choir and is a regular soloist with the choir. In 2020, he was the joint winner of the P. R. McCaffrey award for a boy who shows exceptional promise.
