Victoria Chorale's season started in Federation Square's Deakin Edge*, with Schubert's mass in G, Haydn's Farewell Symphony and 3 works honouring the centenary of Gallipoli. Elgar's 'For the Fallen' is a musical setting of Laurence Binyon's moving poem with its well known words: "They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old". Elgar's work, written during WWI, was complemented by recent works from two Australian composers, Colin Brumby and Andrián Pertout, written specifically with the centenary of Gallipoli in mind.
Bach and Bruckner featured with a brass and wind octet in our exciting June concert, which also included an arrangement of Ave Maria by Terhi Dostal.
In September, we join forces with Sunshine Coast Oriana Choir to sing Mozart's wonderful Mass in C in the superb surroundings of St Paul's Cathedral.
The year will finish with a wonderful Christmas celebration, combining the splendour of Bach's Christmas Oratorios with joyful Christmas carols.
