As a registered charity, one of our charitable purposes is supporting emerging composers. We are delighted to announce we have commissioned William Schmidt to compose a SATB choral work to be performed by Victoria Chorale in the latter part of 2026. The commission is supported by a grant to William from our Donations Fund.
William has two Masters degrees in piano performance from the University of Melbourne and the Music and Arts University of Vienna, Austria. He has performed many solo piano recitals in Melbourne, regional Victoria, and interstate and is a sought-after accompanist for recitals, auditions, competitions, and AMEB and VCE music exams. William works with the Australian Contemporary Opera Company and performs as part of the Art of Sound Orchestra. William is the principal accompanist for Victoria Chorale and is currently a Teaching Associate accompanist at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University.
We look forward to premiering his composition in Melbourne next year.
