Meet our soloists - Molly Ryan

Ticket sales are well underway for our Mozart Great Mass concert at St Paul's Cathedral on Saturday 16 May. We are delighted to announce our four fabulous soloists - Molly Ryan Soprano, Sally-Anne Russell Mezzo Soprano, Jiacheng Ding Tenor and Michael Lampard Baritone. As the first of four posts during April, let's meet our Soprano soloist Molly Ryan.


Molly is an emerging soprano from Sydney. Most recently, Molly was named the overall winner and recipient of the Audience Prize at the MTO German Australia Opera Grant finals. Molly looks forward to joining the principal ensemble of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden in Germany for the 26/27 season. Additionally this year, she looks forward to performing Mozart’s Great Mass with Victoria Chorale in Melbourne and Mozart’s Requiem in Sydney.

 

In 2025, Molly made her international debut in the role of Contessa ‘Le nozze di Figaro’ with the Prague Summer Nights Music Festival. She additionally performed the role of L’Opinion Publique ‘Orphée aux enfers’ with the Sydney Conservatorium opera studio and NIDA, directed by Constantine Costi. Additionally with the studio, Molly created the roles of Mother ‘Lullaby’ and the title role ‘Menarche’ in the world premiere opera project ‘MOTHER’ directed by Lindy Hume.

 

Molly has had national and international competition success. This year saw Molly receive 3rd prize in the Nicholas Tarling Aria in Auckland. Additionally, Molly has received the Merenda Legacy Prize in the IFAC Australian Singing Competition, a finalist prize in the Herald Sun Ari and 2nd prize in the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship.
