Our audience, choristers, musicians and Classic Melbourne all agree, the Misa Criolla concert was a sell out success! Feedback from our audience welcomed our Spanish themed program, its variety and the journey from Renaissance Spain through to 20th century Latin America.
The Art of Sound Ensemble with flute, guitar, piano/organ, double bass and percussion received widespread acclaim, especially with William Schmidt's piano arrangement of Les Fills de Cadix and Adam May's classical guitar solos. Misa Criolla, the featured work, was an audience favourite with our tenor soloist Ben Glover leading and the guitar, cuatro, hand drums, caixixi, wooden sticks and triangle bringing to life the percussive beats and rhythms.
Julia McErlain, the Classic Melbourne reviewer, summed it up best!
"Fine repertoire, a packed house, enthusiastic choristers, colourful instrumentalists and a fine young soloist .... under the enthusiastic and creative leadership of conductor Mario Dobernig."
